50th Anniversary Poem Example

Dear Mom and Dad,

When it comes to loving parents
I’d have to say the best
Are that dear old Mom and Dad of mine,
That Jim and Helen West.

My parents, they’ve been married
A long time, oh so fine,
They’re celebrating fifty years today
And how the sun does shine!

They met way back in College,
At good ol’ Lewis & Clark.
Talkin’ one night at "the Shack."
Havin’ burgers and a lark.

A formal meeting followed,
All to make them mingle.
‘Twas arranged by pal Art Holmboe
And that dear, sweet Ruthie Ingle.

It was just about one year hence
When Dad gave Mom the ring.
They married in the College chapel
And began their marathon fling.

By then Dad was in the air force
Taking to the skies.
Mom set up a home…
And soon…those baby cries.

First Denise, she’s the oldest,
Followed by Janine.
Dad with service duty
And Mom with a house to clean.

As parents they’ve been wonderful.
Really, really cool.
Gave us love and fun everyday,
And what about at Yule?

Christmastime was special,
So much for goodness sake.
We even left for Santa
Coffee and a nice fruit cake.

And every night on weekends
No matter what was said.
The girls with Mom and Dad
Watched TV right in one bed.

Now Mom and Dad retired,
But there’s never cause for fuss
Mom still cleans up a storm
Dad drives a shuttle bus.

It’s all still so together,
Not a piece did it unravel.
They’re busy with their lives
And they really love to travel.

On the ocean cruisin’,
Oh, it sure does please.
Their favorite place to visit?
I’d say it’s the south seas.

And even when they’re home
Life’s great – without a break.
Celebratin’ every Saturday
With a meal of tasty steak.

So Mom and Dad, dear Jim and Helen,
With wishes just for you.
From Janine, Denise and Brad we say
Our love for you stays true.

And for the record, folks
You two whom we adore.
Congrats on the first fifty years,
Now on to fifty more!

Happy 50th Anniversary!

Love,

Denise
